Noon...it's co-op day for the kids so it's just me and the dog at home. I have a turkey sandwich and pomegranate soda while reading blogs and responding to e-mails. Then I take Genevieve for a walk around the block before leaving to pick up Trent from school. I call Derek on the way to see if he wants me to bring him any lunch. He has been working since ten pm last night. He says that he'll be home soon.
1:00 pm...I drive home through heavy traffic and listen to Trent's play by play account of his morning. He had a great morning, and he doesn't stop telling me about it until we pull into the driveway. Trent runs into the house, excited, because he knows that today we're making gingerbread cookies for "G" week. I'd already made the dough so Trent gets to work rolling it out. He finds the Christmas cookie cutters along with the gingerbread man and decides he wants to make all the shapes. He doesn't care that Christmas is still a ways off.
2:00 pm...Derek is home, but only for a quick lunch and a change of clothes before he has to go back. Trent and I attempt to decorate the cookies and eat way too many. Of course, then we have to read the story of the Gingerbread Man. Next, we read about St. George and the Dragon (because G is George) and put the finishing touches on his St. George "action figure". We then leave to pick up Grace from school, listening to the angel c.d for what feels like the millionth time. The kids are practicing for an upcoming Christmas program at church, and they're supposed to listen to the c.d. four times a week. Again...Christmas is still a long ways off! Isn't it?
3:00 pm...I pick up Grace at school. Traffic is even worse this time. On the way home, we stop by my Grandma's place to say hello and help her iron a shirt. After a quick visit, drive the rest the way home and send Trent upstairs to change into his karate clothes. I check a few blogs while waiting, then we jump back into the car to go to karate.
4:00 pm....I sit down to watch Trent and pull out my knitting. I'm knitting an elf..my first attempt at knitting in the round. Soon, I'm having a conversation with this guy about knitting. Incongruous is the word that comes to mind.
5:00 and beyond....dinner (taco salad), another walk with the dog, and here I am...blogging. I was supposed to go to a Nutcracker rehearsal tonight, but it was cancelled, so maybe I'll watch some t.v. after I read to Grace.

Love your days!
You could blog this way every day & I'd love it...XXxx.
That was an interesting way to do some blog posts!
I've enjoyed this so much. You are really busy!
Fun to read. I think I need a pomegranite soda--I've never had one and clearly can't even spell it :)
Your days always sound so wonderful, full, and relaxing all at the same time. (I may or may not be listening to Christmas music right now....it is a long ways off :) )
I really loved these. I hope you'll do more soon. Maybe I'll try out this format. Have a great day! Stay away from all that traffic. :)
I liked this series. It is fun to look in on your day. :)
what does your husband do for work? I like reading your days. Mine are so chaotic, or perhaps run by a nursing baby and silly 3 year old! my daughter talks about what a great homeschooler you are all the time-
Saskia,
Thank you. My days were very chaotic when my son was a baby. ;)
My husband works with a fiber optic network (internet, phone, t.v).
I've enjoyed this series of posts about your day ~ I would have been excited to make gingerbread cookies too!
Are you gonna be one of the Nutcracker Mothers?? That would be awesome! I thought we would be moved by now so we didn't take ballet...so sad.
I love hearing about your days. Everything about your home is so inviting, even the activities you do!
Great idea for blog posts. Mind if I use it? Sounds like a great way to not only prove what I do all day, show myself that I AM getting things done, but also help to edit out things that are not condusive to the home culture I want to inspire (like tv).
You do such a great job homeschooling!
Gingerbread....yum!
Hope Derek's work marathon has come to a close and he is catching up on some rest! Looks like Trent did a great job on his cookies. I agree with Jessica, your days seem full, yet relaxed – a great balance.
I always enjoy hearing about your days!!
I've really been enjoying reading these! Your home sounds so peaceful. :)
i have really enjoyed just reading through all these posts, as i only just discovered your blog. they were so much fun to read!
these posts were so fun to read! Love how you ended up having a knitting conversation with "this guy"! def. didn't look like a knitter, but you never know! ...too funny...
I came late to this, but I enjoyed it. I sure would love one of those gingerbread cookies right about now.
I really enjoyed this series of posts, Dawn! :) :) :)
