Today Derek swam 1500m, biked 25 miles, and ran 10k, finishing fourth in his age group...not bad for his second Olympic distance triathlon. His time was two hours, twenty five minutes. To say I'm proud of him would be an understatement. My guy rocks!

The kids and I took a more leisurely approach to the day, swimming and playing on the beach. The only time I ran today was when I was trying to take pictures of Derek in the transitions. I find photographing triathlons to be quite a challenge with the crowds, and not ever knowing exactly when I'll see Derek. And trying to figure out which guy he is in the water? Forget about it! It's like a "
Where's Waldo" picture.

Grace took the picture below right after Derek finished.

Th kids each had a new mask/snorkel set to try out, and both put them to great use. Trent learned to swim completely on his own, something he's been working on all summer; today it "clicked" for him. And Grace found a silver earring underwater for a lady who had lost it. The lady rewarded her with five dollars!

The rest of the photos are in my
web album.

Wow! That is so cool!! He does rock! You two look beautiful together! Daddy and I are walking the Bridge to Bridge in San Francisco this fall. My knees do not like it when I run anymore. That's okay. Walking works for me!! Have a great night!

I love that photo of you two.
What a beautiful place you live in! Lovely couple.
Geez, that man makes me feel a little lazy! Amazing for sure! How frustrating that you can't spot him to take a photo! Love the photos though.
Lisa ;)
Again!! Way to go Derek!!
Great photos :) Love the last one of Trent sacked out in the car.
So wonderful! What a great example to your kids!
2.25? Legend!
Wow... that's really cool! Congratulations to Derek!
I love the Where's Waldo comment too. I imagine it would be a challenge to photograph the whole thing.
My hat is off to Derek ~ major accomplishment with loads of hard work and training behind it, I'm sure.
Photo of you both is lovely!
Wow, congrats to Derek! That's just amazing. It sounds like the kids had fun too. Elizabeth finally clicked with swimming earlier this summer too. I think the water slide at the Y had something to do with it. ;) Have a great rest of the weekend!
Wow-what a great accomplishment for Derek!
It sounds like everyone had a great time! Congratulations to both of your guys! I'm still waiting for that day when swimming just "clicks" for my little guy.
Finding lost jewelry underwater is almost impossible, so that was a pretty fantastic accomplishment, too.
Wow. What a accomplsihment and a example for the kids to promote good health. I really would love to train for a 5k but yeah that is just not happening.
Wow! What fun. And great pictures. Love that one of the two of you.
Great photos of the day! Congratulations Derek for doing so well. It is nice to see Miss Grace and Trent swimming so well.
