Blueberry Hills

"She picked three more berries and ate them. Then she picked more berries and dropped one in the pail kuplunk!"Blueberries For Sal
" Mommy, if we were in Blueberry Land, these blueberries would look like big, blue apples!" Trent, referring to another favorite book.

Grace looked out over the vista of orchards, vineyards, and berry fields and observed that it all looked "very much like a quilt."
Blueberry Hills in Manson really does seem like a storybook place. We picked over ten pounds of blueberries on Saturday...which really won't last long at my house since we love them so much.
It was quite hot though, with temps. near 100 degrees, so a dip in the cold lake felt absolutely delicious after that "hard" work.

What an awesome photo of Trent.
We often joke about living in the "boring midwest," but one thing I'll never grow tired of is driving through the countryside and seeing a big earthen quilt dotted only with the occasional farmhouse. I'm with Grace on that one.
Enjoy your blueberries!

Oooooh blueberries! When my girls were little we used to go to Maine to harvest wild blueberries. Blueberries for Sal is a long time favorite in our home to.

I've not picked blueberries before, but we sure love picking huckleberries. Just scrumptious!

I miss my blueberry bushes from the old house. I was just trying to figure out where we could plan some here.

I used to love berry picking as a child. For shame, I've never taken Rose. You've inspired me for next summer.

Wow, those are plump blueberries. The lake photo with Trent is beautiful. I like McCloskey's books. Ami read one that we don't have while we were at the bookstore the other day. I posted the Roadrunner clip for Trent. It's only 30 seconds because I cut out the hanging out at the fountain and on the fence.

Love the photo of Trent at the lake--the water looks so inviting!

Our blueberries (in pots) are almost ripe enough to pick--we are envious that you have a whole field to pick them from!

I want to pick some wild blueberries, too! One of my favorite summer treats!

Those are really great prices! We pay $3.69 a lb for cherries. There are not any u-pick places around here. We would have to travel several hours. Looks like a lot of fun to pick your own blueberries.

It does look like a quilt, what a gorgeous place to live.

i hope to get the girls our berrypicking this week! I'm not sure it has gotten up to 80 degrees more than once or twice this summer.

Our wild blueberries are just starting to ripen now... I've been picking some and giving them to my chickens ~ Oh, and Owen too LOL :0)

Looks like a wonderful farm! We are seriously behind on summer storing. Blueberries is one thing I've usually long finished at this point. Funny how 1 week away puts you 3 weeks behind. I'm glad you were able to go picking and the blueberry farm brought those wonderful books to life. :)

Yum yum yum!

The last time we went blueberry picking, I couldn't help but say "kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk" even though we were using plastic containers :-)
